Our commitment

People come to this site at difficult moments — a foreclosure date, a parent’s estate, a house they can’t afford to repair. Making that harder because of how a page is built isn’t acceptable to us.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We’re not claiming full conformance — see the limitations below — but that’s the standard we build against.

What we’ve done

Keyboard access

Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard. Buttons are real buttons rather than clickable graphics, expandable sections respond to Enter and Space, and dialogs can be closed with Escape. A “skip to content” link at the top of each page lets you jump past the navigation.

When a dialog opens, focus moves into it and stays there until it closes, at which point it returns to whatever you were on. Focus indicators are visible rather than removed.

Screen readers

Pages use proper heading structure with a single main heading each. Expandable sections announce whether they’re open or closed. Dialogs are marked as such, and status changes — like a rotating review or a filtered result count — are announced politely rather than interrupting.

Decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers so they’re not read aloud as noise. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions.

Content inside collapsed sections stays present in the page rather than being removed, so it’s available whether or not you expand it.

Motion

If your device is set to reduce motion, animations on this site turn off. That includes the scrolling review panels, expanding sections, and transitions.

Reading and colour

Text is set at a comfortable size and line height, and can be enlarged by your browser without breaking the layout. We don’t rely on colour alone to convey meaning — anything indicated by colour is also indicated by text, shape, or position.

Known limitations

We’d rather list these than let you discover them:

• The scrolling review panels pause when you hover over them or reach them with a keyboard, but there is currently no way to pause them on a touchscreen. We’re working on a visible pause control.
• We have not yet completed a formal accessibility audit or testing with assistive technology users. The measures above are what we’ve built deliberately, not what we’ve verified independently.
• Some content is provided by third parties — review badges and accreditation seals, for example. We don’t control how those are built.

If something doesn’t work

Tell us and we’ll fix it. If you’re having trouble using any part of this site, or you’d rather handle your enquiry another way entirely, call us and we’ll take your information over the phone. You never have to use a form to get an offer from us.

When you get in touch, it helps to know what page you were on and what you were trying to do, but don’t worry if you can’t say precisely.

Ongoing work

Accessibility isn’t something we finish. As we add pages and features we test them, and when someone tells us something is broken we treat it as a bug rather than a suggestion. This statement is updated as things change.
